Apex Height and Hang Time, Under Load
Our launch monitor captures ball speed, launch angle, spin rate, spin axis, and attack angle on every swing — with your current driver and every demo head we test. We then layer a simulated crosswind and headwind onto that data to see how apex height and hang time actually hold up, not just how the ball flew in dead-calm air.
From there we map your delivery: is your apex too tall and thin, ballooning the moment wind gets under it? Or too flat, so a stiff headwind knocks it out of the sky short of target? Every recommendation traces back to a specific number from your own session.
What Actually Changes in a Driver Fitting
Loft & Face Angle
Adjustable hosels let us dial loft in half-degree steps. A shot that holds too flat into wind usually needs more static loft than the number stamped on the head, not less.
Shaft Weight & Flex
Shaft weight shapes swing timing more than the flex label alone, and timing shapes how tall your apex builds. We test across weight classes to find the combination that holds a repeatable window.
Head Design & MOI
Moment of inertia determines how forgiving a head is off-center, but center of gravity placement is what actually shapes your apex height independent of loft.
Length
A shorter, better-controlled driver frequently produces a cleaner apex than a longer one, which usually beats a few extra theoretical yards on a gusty day.
Spin Rate
Too little spin and your apex collapses early, cutting hang time short. Too much, and wind grabs the ball on the way up. We tune spin as its own variable, not a byproduct of loft alone.
Grip Size
An oversized or undersized grip changes hand action through impact, which can quietly shift face angle and spin axis at contact. We check grip size on every driver fitting.
What a Driver Fitting Can Fix
The Slice, Amplified by Crosswind
A left-to-right spin axis tilt gets exaggerated the moment island crosswind is added. The right shaft and loft combination reduces curvature meaningfully while you work on swing mechanics.
Ballooning in the Sea Breeze
Excess spin sends shots up and back, extending hang time in a way that costs distance and gives wind more time to act. A lower-spin combination flattens the flight and shortens exposure.
Knuckling Out of a Headwind
Insufficient apex height and spin causes shots to fall out of the air short of their potential the moment a headwind pushes back. Adjusting loft and center of gravity typically resolves this.
Inconsistent Strike Location
If your dispersion pattern shows strikes scattered across the face, a higher-MOI head paired with the right length and lie can shrink that pattern significantly, wind or no wind.
